LWPTSA Council is excited to shine the spotlight on Audubon Elementary PTSA to highlight their resourceful and memorable Staff Appreciation Week!
Audubon PTSA’s Co-VPs of School Services Aviv Arowesty-Balas and Magda Minchev led the effort this year, kicking off brainstorming for the week several months in advance. Wanting the week to be truly special to show teachers and staff how much they mean to the Audubon community, Aviv leveraged her event-planning expertise to focus on creating and bringing to life a beautiful, “Pinterest-worthy” experience. Magda used her networking and outreach experience to connect with and seek contributions from businesses across the community, elevating the week’s offerings.
Using SignUpGenius and Amazon Wish Lists made it easy for Audubon parents and families to donate snacks, potluck dishes, decorations and their time. Aviv also uses social media community forums to source decorative items and supplies for free—and helping hands are quick to assist. Together, such contributions helped keep the week’s celebrations budget-friendly, simple and accessible.
The Teacher Appreciation Mailbox was waiting outside the school office all week, waiting to be filled with love letters, drawings and messages of gratitude. Volunteers came together to furnish a colorful and delicious Global Potluck with flavors from around the world. Another day, the teachers’ lounge went tropical, with a Beach Snack Shack ready to help staff members relax and recharge. With a rainbow of beautifully arranged fruit, donated by Trader Joe’s, and two chocolate fountains at the ready, staff could grab a skewer and enjoy some chocolate fruit fondue. And frozen custards donated by Shake Shack were the perfect treat to round out the sunny week.
Audubon PTSA President Andrea Turnbull notes that while Aviv, Magda and their army of Audubon volunteers have been making magic all year long, they “pulled out all the stops” for Staff Appreciation Week.
