Legacy of Resilience: A Holocaust Story

Daphna Robon

LWSD parents and high school students are invited to listen to Daphna Robon, Legacy Speaker with the Holocaust Center for Humanity, who will share the fascinating survival and resiliency story of her parents, Imre Friedmann and Naomi Kraus.

Can you imagine what it would be like to apply to a university but to be rejected on the basis of your religion? This was the reality for so many in European countries in 1939. And in those rare cases where you were accepted to university, imagine the level of discrimination you had to face on a daily basis from both students and professors. Daphna’s father, Imre, experienced that and Daphna will share his story with us. Daphna will also share the story of her mother, Naomi. During the war, Daphna’s grandmother had to say goodbye to her little girl and hid her in a safe house under a false identity. This was the fate for so many.

This is a story of incredible resilience, told in an engaging and personal way. It inspires us all to appreciate our differences as well as our commonalities as people, and to never forget.

Please email Danit Erlich, Council’s VP of Family and Community Engagement (FACE) with any questions regarding this event.
