Lake Washington PTSA Council Scholarships
Welcome to the Lake Washington Council’s 2016/17 Scholarship Program! Each year, the Lake Washington PTSA Council awards a variety of scholarships to graduating seniors and to LWSD certificated staff. Funding for these scholarships is provided by the generosity of all PTSAs in the district, the continued support and success of Council’s Annual Scholarship Basket Auction, and donations from the greater community. Student scholarships, recognizing achievement and community service, assist recipients in their post-secondary education. Scholarships for certificated LWSD staff provide assistance with continuing education at an institute of higher learning, through LWSD Professional Development, or for pursuing National Board Certification.
2017 APPLICATION DEADLINE FOR ALL SCHOLARSHIPS IS 4:00 PM, APRIL 12, 2017
All student scholarships are $1,000.00. For 2016/2017 Academic Year, there are 15 scholarships available in the following categories:
- A total of eight merit scholarships to be awarded the top two candidates from each of the four LWSD Learning communities (Eastlake, Juanita, Lake Washington, and Redmond)
- Three named scholarships: the L.E. Scarr awarded to a student who will attend a 2-year or vocational/technical school or community college, and the Jane Wierenga and the LWEA/Karen Bates to be awarded to students pursuing an education degree
- A Perseverance Scholarship and a Turnaround Scholarship awarded according to their individual criteria (see applications)
- Two At-Large Scholarships, including the Jackie Pendergrass At-Large Award
Student scholarship applications are now available in the Career Centers and/or counseling offices at each high school. These high schools include: Eastlake, Emerson, ICS, Juanita, Lake Washington, Redmond, and Tesla STEM.

Staff scholarships are $500.00 each. A minimum of two (2) scholarships will be awarded. Download the Staff Scholarship Application or obtain one through the LWEA office. Contact Sheila Hagerman at email@example.com.
Notification and award ceremony
Award recipients will be notified in mid-May 2017. Scholarships will be awarded during the Academic Award/Scholarship Programs at each high school and all recipients will be honored at the June 5th Lake Washington School Board meeting, 7pm, at the LWSD Resource Center, and at a reception prior to that meeting.
