Each year, Lake Washington PTSA Council awards a variety of scholarships to graduating seniors and to LWSD certificated staff. Funding for these scholarships is provided by the generosity of our local PTSAs and donations from the greater community. Student scholarships—recognizing achievement, community service and more—assist recipients in their post-secondary educations. Scholarships for certificated LWSD staff provide assistance with continuing education at an institute of higher learning or through LWSD Professional Development.
Our 2024 Scholarships
In 2024, LWPTSA Council awarded 17 student scholarships for $1,250 each, in the following categories:
- 8 Merit Scholarships
- 1 LWEA/Teeley Scholarship (Funded by the LWEA)
- 3 Perseverance Scholarships
- 1 Turnaround Scholarship
- 1 Two-Year, Technical or Vocational School Scholarship
- 3 At-Large Scholarships
Also awarded in 2024 were two certificated staff scholarships for $500 each. Descriptions of all scholarship categories can be found in the application forms (see below).

2024 Tentative Dates and Deadlines
- February 26, 2024 – Applications open (See below for forms)
- March 29, 2024 – Applications due by 11:59 pm
- Update: Deadline extension for LWEA/Teeley; Turnaround; and Two-Year/Tech/Voc categories only — now due April 12, 2024, at 11:59 pm
- April 2024 – Applications are evaluated by the Scholarship Committee
- Late April 2024 / Early May 2024 – Recipients and high schools notified of scholarship awardees
- June 3, 2024 – Reception to honor recipients at LWSD Resource Center (6:15 pm, preceding LWSD school board meeting)

Local PTA Scholarship Assessment & Donation for 2023-24
For the 2023-2024 academic year, LWPTSA Council will not be holding the basket auction to fund the scholarship fund. In place of the auction, Council asks our local PTAs to add a donation (recommended amount of $200) to the required yearly scholarship program assessment of $125 per PTA.
The assessment and donation may be paid together in one check. Checks must be received by Nov. 17, 2023. Instructions for submission are on the invoice.
