LWPTSA Council is excited to announce a new Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Chair for our board!
Council is recruiting (a) volunteer(s) for a new Board of Directors voting position: Chair of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion. This position may be held by one or two persons. Our council is committed to advocate for institutional and systemic changes that ensure equity, justice, respect, and inclusion of all children. LWPTSA Council strives to be anti-discriminatory, inclusive, and welcome all voices. We are seeking to learn from our community and grow as individuals, and as an organization.
As a new role, we expect this position to evolve and grow as the volunteer researches, analyzes, and evaluates diversity, equity and inclusion in the PTA space. Our DEI Chair will foster and embrace diversity, equity, and inclusion, with a focus on respect and acceptance of every family and student. Our successful DEI Chair has a passion for these issues – and working toward real change. Familiarity with PTA is not necessary as we will provide training and support. Our DEI Chair will provide support and guidance to all LW PTSA units and will help to support our Council Mission and Goals, as well Washington State PTA and National PTA. The DEI Chair is required to be a member of a Lake Washington Council PTA.
